LIKAT Rostock

Post-doc Position (m/f/d)

In the area of catalytic conversion of renewable resources

The Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT Rostock) with approx. 300 employees and guests is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of catalysis. LIKAT is a competent partner for the re-search and development of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts as well as catalytic processes and technologies. LIKATs focus is on application-oriented basic research and applied research. Therefore, it cooperates with industrial companies and research institutes worldwide.

The research group of Prof. Dr. J.G. de Vries/Dr. Sergey Tin in the department of “Catalysis with Renewable Resources” has an opening for a PostDoc position in this area.

Your task: You will develop new catalytic methods for the conversion of sugars and other sources of biomass into monomeric building blocks (e.g. diols) for polymers. Another focus of the project will be on the preparation of renewable oligomers which can be used in the preparation of adhesives.

Your competence: A Ph.D. degree in the area of homogeneous catalysis, organometallic chemistry or organic chemistry with expertise in catalysis and good spoken and written English is required. Experience in polymer synthesis and characterisation is advantageous. The candidate must be highly self-motivated and work independently on a high scientific level.

Our offer: We offer a challenging Post-doc position in an international research group in an excellent environment at the LIKAT Rostock. The position is available from March 1, 2020 and is initially limited to one year. Extension for another year is possible upon mutual agreement. Place of work is Rostock. The salary is based on public service rates of the German states (E13 TV-L, 40h/week).

LIKAT supports professional equality of women and men and so applications from women are most welcome. As women are underrepresented in this sector at LIKAT preference will be given to women with equal qualification. Disabled applicants with equal qualification and aptitude will be given preferential consideration.

Please, send your application (including C.V., list of publications, copies of relevant examination certificates and contact information of two referees) as one pdf file with a max. size of 25 MB by e-mail quoting the reference number 410-01/2019 to Johannes.devries@catalysis.de and to seregey.tin@catalysis.de until January 10, 2019.

Please note that application and travel costs cannot be reimbursed.
