Offer Description
Based on the Decision on the announcement of a public competition for employment in the scientific and teaching position of assistant professor (CLASS: 602-01/25-01/12, REGISTRATION NUMBER: 2170-1-38-05-25-2), dated June 13, 2025, the Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka announces a
COMPETITION
for the selection for the scientific and teaching position of assistant professor in the scientific field of humanities, scientific field of philology, full-time and for an indefinite period - 1 executor.
Candidates must meet the requirements prescribed by the Higher Education and Scientific Activity Act (Official Gazette, No. 119/22), the Ordinance on the Conditions for Election to Scientific Titles (Official Gazette, No. 28/17, 72/19, 21/21 and 111/22), the Decision on the Necessary Conditions for the Assessment of Teaching and Scientific-Professional Activities in the Procedure for Election to Scientific-Professional Titles (Official Gazette, No. 122/17 and 120/21) and the Statute of the Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka, dated 17 April 2023, of which they must submit evidence.
Advantage: previous research-scientific, teaching and professional activities in the field of the Croatian language.
Candidates must submit the following documentation: a signed application for the competition with the specified personal data (name and surname, address of residence/stay, telephone number and e-mail address), CV, proof of appropriate professional qualifications, i.e. academic title and degree, overview of previous scientific, teaching and professional activities with a list of published works and papers, proof of citizenship, electronic record of data recorded in the registry of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute, no older than one month from the date of publication of the competition.
Candidates who have acquired a foreign higher education qualification must submit proof (decision) of recognition of the foreign higher education qualification. Candidates who are foreign citizens must submit proof of knowledge of the Croatian language (and Latin script), in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (advanced knowledge - C2). The verification of knowledge according to the required level may exceptionally be carried out orally and/or in writing, if the candidate does not have written proof of knowledge of the Croatian language. If the candidate submits documents with their application in which the personal data is not identical, they are required to submit proof of their change (e.g. marriage or birth certificate, etc.). The selected candidate is required to submit the original documents for inspection before concluding an employment contract.
Candidates who exercise the right of priority in employment under a special law are required to refer to this right in their application for the competition and submit (along with the remaining required documentation) all evidence that special regulations stipulate for exercising this right and have priority over other candidates only under equal conditions.

A candidate who invokes the right of priority in employment pursuant to Article 9 of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities ("Official Gazette", No. 121/17, 98/19, 84/21 and 156/23) is obliged to submit, in addition to the proof of meeting the requirements of the tender, all the necessary evidence from Article 103 of the cited Act, listed on the website of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans of the Republic of Croatia: https://branitelji.gov.hr/UserDocsImages//dokumenti/Nikola//popis%20dok… novine", No. 157/13, 152/14, 39/18 and 32/20), is obliged to submit all prescribed documentation, i.e. evidence of meeting the required conditions, as well as proof of disability, with the application for the competition.
A candidate who invokes the right to priority in employment pursuant to Article 48 of the Act on Civilian Victims of the Homeland War ("Official Gazette", No. 84/21), is obliged to submit all prescribed documentation, i.e. evidence of meeting the required conditions, in accordance with Article 49 of the cited Act. A candidate who invokes the right to priority in employment in accordance with Article 48.f of the Act on the Protection of Military and Civilian War Invalids (Official Gazette, No. 33/92, 57/92, 77/92, 27/93, 58/93, 2/94, 76/94, 108/95, 108/96, 82/01, 103/03, 148/13 and 98/19) is obliged to submit, in addition to proof of meeting the required conditions, a decision or certificate from which the aforementioned right is evident and proof of how the employment relationship was terminated.
By submitting an application for the competition, candidates expressly agree that the Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka, as the controller of the personal data file, may collect, use and further process data for the purpose of conducting the competition procedure, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2018 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and the Act on the Implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (Official Gazette, No. 42/18), and it is considered that the application and attached documents were submitted of the candidate's free will. Applications for the competition with evidence of meeting the requirements are submitted in electronic form, via e-mail, to the address: izbori@ufri.uniri.hr, within 30 (thirty) days from the date of publication of the competition in the Official Gazette, with the indication "application for the competition for assistant professor". Candidates are required to attach documentation in electronic form in PDF format to the application for the competition. For candidates who meet the formal requirements of the competition, the Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka reserves the right to conduct a test and/or interview to check the motivation, knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Candidates will be notified in a timely manner about the testing and/or interview. If a candidate does not take the test and/or interview, it is considered that he/she has withdrawn his/her application. The Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka reserves the right not to select any candidate for the competition, or to cancel this competition. Incomplete and untimely applications will not be considered. A person who has not submitted a complete and timely application or does not meet the requirements of this competition is not considered a candidate who has applied for the competition. The Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka will publish information about the outcome of the competition on its website within fifteen days of the completion of the procedure. Candidates will also be notified of the results of the competition within the same period by e-mail, to the address through which they submitted their application for the competition. Persons of both sexes can apply for the competition under equal conditions. The terms used in this competition that have gender meanings are used neutrally and refer equally to both sexes.
