Outline
The ERS/Sociedad Española de Neumología y Cirugía Torácica (SEPAR) Joint Long-Term Research Fellowship from the European Respiratory Society (ERS) supports early-career researchers and clinicians to carry out basic, translational, or clinical research projects in Spain. Applicants must be ERS members, residents in a country in Europe (except in Spain), or overseas. Europe as defined by the World Health Organization.
Applications are open to candidates of all ages, targeting researchers with at least 2 years of advanced research experience. Applications from researchers who have taken a career break, including, but not limited to, parental leave, periods working outside research, and experiencing unemployment, are encouraged.
Academic qualifications:
- Applicants should be actively engaged or must have experience in the respiratory field.
- Applicants must be postgraduates holding a university degree (PhD or MD-PhD) in any field related to respiratory medicine. Applicants should have graduated with a PhD or MD-PhD at the time of the application deadline.
- Applicants without a PhD or MD-PhD degree at the time of the application deadline are required to possess at a minimum an MD or MSc and prove 2 years of completed full-time research experience.
- Applicants currently in a postgraduate degree (PhD, MD-PhD and equivalent) are not eligible.
- Postgraduate scientists such as immunologists, biologists, geneticists, pharmacologists, biophysicists, chemists, etc. involved in respiratory science, are entitled to apply for the LTRF.
- Qualified healthcare professionals (non-MD) working in respiratory health/medicine (nurses, physiotherapists, respiratory function technologists, allied respiratory professionals, etc.) are entitled to apply for an LTRF. At a minimum, applicants should hold an MSc or equivalent degree at the time of application and prove 2 years of completed full-time research experience.
Applicants must not have worked or resided in the host institution in Spain for more than 3 consecutive months in the last 3 years. Applicants who have been in their host institution or host country for more than 3 consecutive months in the last 3 years at the time of the application deadline are not eligible.
The fellowship should last from 6 to 24 months.
